Max was headed for Paradise Valley as a U.S. Marshal. Maggie was headed to Paradise Valley to become their doctor. They met on the train coming out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Neither wanted to be stuck sitting next to each other for the next fifteen hundred miles. She was a plain Jane woman and the last thing, Max wanted to be stuck by. He was a rough and crude marshal. Maggie had no experience with men, and the last thing she needed was to be stuck sitting by was a neanderthal for the next three weeks. By the time they hit St. Louis, they found they had common ground. By the time they hit Kansas, they enjoyed sharing sandwiches. By the time, they hit Colorado, they were surprised that they were friends and would miss seeing each other every day. Maggie wasn't so plain and Max wasn't such a Neanderthal. It was going to be nice to have at least one familiar face in Paradise Valley. They ended up having rooms in the same boarding house. They ran into each other every day, sometimes more than once. Maggie changed her hair style and her change of dress. She wasn't plain at all and she was pretty to Max, damn it. He resented other men noticing. He made the mistake of kissing her one night and that changed everything for both of them. And then one night as Max stands guard duty at the jail, an explosion changes his life forever. Maggie has to save his life. But when he wakes up, Max doesn't remember Maggie or the life his had in Paradise Valley. He doesn't even remember who he is. What can Maggie do to help him remember their life together or what it can be? What is probable between them?Read Probable Cause and find out
