Accidental Dial by W.A. Ashes
Harper hates summer, especially June 21st. The summer solstice was a big thing in her hometown of Ascot, Nebraska but since one dreadful summer when she almost lost a friend to a summertime prank, she's stayed far away from all things summer solstice-related. This time of the year she can't block out Dawson's screams and the crack of his skull hitting the totem pole. This time of the year all she wants is to die.

Ezra joined the Omaha Police Department fresh out of the academy and was quickly climbing the ranks, intent on becoming a homicide detective. When a riot at a Black Lives Matter protest turned deadly, he ended up wounded and taken off active duty. Resigned to the life of a dispatcher, Ezra just wants to get back out in the field, but his leg has other plans.

When Harper accidentally dials 911 during an episode of suicidal thoughts, Ezra answers. Even though the call goes down in the records as an accidental dial, he can't get it out of his head. He has to find the girl on the other side and make sure she's okay because something in his gut tells him that she's not. What starts as a friendship has the chance to develop more.
