Mathilda Annotated by Mary Shelley
The main character of Roald Dahl's 1988 children's book of the same name, Matilda Wormwood, is Matilda. She is a nine-year-old girl who is bright and precocious but is confined to a life with her unloving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood. The parents of Matilda are uncaring and self-centered, and they are not concerned with her schooling or general welfare. Despite her challenging situation, Matilda is a cheerful and upbeat youngster. She enjoys reading, and learning comes naturally to her. She is also incredibly resourceful and independent. When Matilda first enters school, the lessons' leisurely pace rapidly grows boring to her. She is motivated to learn more and is far smarter than her classmates. Miss Honey, Matilda's teacher, respects her intelligence and makes an effort to help her, but she is helpless to change the rigid regulations at the school.
