Blood and Sand by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez
"Blood and Sand" by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez is partially inspired by the life of the Sevillian bullfighter Manuel García Cuesta El Espartero, who was killed by a gunshot wound in the Madrid bullring 1894. For Juan Gallardo, a bullfighter from Spain , life seems to have smiled on him. That poor boy from Seville who escaped to fight at the fairs, had made his way as a brave bullfighter . He later triumphed as a matador, arousing the enthusiasm of the public. He now has it fame, money, land, women at his feet and a loving and understanding wife. But he meets Mrs. Sol who becomes his lover and everything changes.
