Tasting Much Sweeter Than Wine: An Eden's Hollow Story - Sapphic Fantasy by Daisy Fairchild
In the forest surrounding Eden’s Hollow, there’s magic brewing. Wren may not be magical herself, but when she finds herself lost under a canopy of trees, it’s the light of a small cabin that attracts her. On the other side of the door is an enchanting and intoxicating kind of spellcraft, brewed by the older woman she’s crushed on for years. If Wren thought the forest could be dangerous at night, she’s about to learn just what kind of good trouble she can fall into.Tasting Much Sweeter Than Wine is a 6,000 word story of fantasy, spells, and an age-gap spark. It previously appeared in the anthology Shackin' Short Stories of Queer Romance and Forced Proximity.

Excerpt:She raises her small fist and knocks firmly, listening as the noise echoes around the dark woods. There’s no answering sound, but she has the sudden sense that everything is listening, waiting. She knocks again. Nothing.Wren’s fist is raised to give one more try when the door swings open. Wren nearly chokes on her tongue at the sight in front of her, manages at the last moment to cough instead.“Oh no,” says the very stunning, very naked woman standing in the doorway. “Are you okay?”The woman’s voice is thick with concern, and Wren nods through her embarrassment, waving a hand. “Yeah!” she croaks out, “fine! I’m fine!”Once the shock has worn off, and once she’s able to drag her eyes upward, Wren recognizes the person in front of her. Recognizes her on several levels, in fact — as the owner and head mechanic of the town’s auto shop, the mother of her friend Korbin, and the star of many, many illicit teenage fantasies, none of which did her justice, based on what Wren is facing now.“Zorah?” she asks, unable to keep her surprise out of her voice. “What are you doing out here? I thought you’d be in town for the parties.”Zorah steps back out of the doorway and waves Wren in.
