The Demon from the Crypt: An Elspeth Barclay Novel by Karla Brandenburg
Elle would do anything for her sister Laine, but fly across the ocean? Laine calls from Spain to say she’s seen a ghost whose appearance portends death. Now Elle must overcome her fear of flying to help. When the situation escalates, Elle invites the man she’s been dating to accompany her, for moral support as much as for psychic support.

The apparition is no ordinary ghost. It’s a demon, waiting for the chance to escape the hallowed ground where it is entombed. Laine’s boyfriend Gavin arranges a tour of the crypt, where the demon hijacks Gavin.

When Elle goes in search of an exorcist, she meets a man who tells her she has a friendly spirit who can help her expel the demon. Calling on spirits is dangerous in the best of circumstances. Instead, Elle embarks on a mission for a talisman to lure the demon away from Gavin. In the few hours she’s gone, Gavin disappears. Disoriented in a foreign country, Elle has to rely on her friendly spirit to help her.

Can Elle banish the demon before it kills Gavin? They have to find him first.

In the second Elspeth Barclay novel, Elle has to up her game and deal with an aggressive spirit while learning to accept help from the friends and family around her, including friends who linger beyond the shadow of their own deaths.
