Trinkets and Trickery: A Cozy Paranormal Mystery by Kyeli Sky
Maven Cane is finally getting the hang of being a witch and she's also dealing with being half-thunderbird due to a father that she's never known. She's hoping that her mother will finally answer some questions - questions that will lead her to a reunion with her absent father.
But as summer heat descends on Lupine Valley, her mother is busy getting the apothecary ready to open for business, so it seems that Maven's questions will have to wait.
What's more, there is strange magic on the move and rumors floating through town - rumors of Bison Witches and Thunderbirds - legends as old as magic itself and Maven wants to find out more.
When her boyfriend, the handsome deputy and crow-shifter Rook Corbin, lets it slip that the bison witches are looking for her, Maven suspects that it's because of her own thunderbird heritage and she hopes that the bison witches will have the key that helps her to finally find her father after all of these years. But the bison witches prove to be elusive, and Maven's got bigger problems.
Because someone is unleashing a spate of magic lamps on the unsuspecting townsfolk, trapping them inside with no hope for escape. And when her own mother gets trapped inside of one of the lamps, Maven has to put everything else on hold to find a way to free the victims before time runs out.
Being trapped in a lamp is a fate worse than death and Maven's got her hands full as she hunts for the rogue magical being that is creating all of the havoc, not to mention that when she finally meets up with the bison witches, she finds out that they have plans for her life that Maven is not entirely on board with.
Come along for the ride and meet the quirky residents of Lupine Valley, Oklahoma. You won't want to leave!
