WINTER SUMMER by Quinn Blackbird

‘The world above is rubble. Don’t ever doubt that I would burn it down to nothing but ash and ghosts—I would hunt you down, Winter, down to your last breath.’

I might just be one of the luckiest survivors in this world.
Cities burn, rotters die off from starvation, but that happens above. Down here, in the bunker of the CDC, I am safe. So why is it I feel just as uneasy in these corridors as I did in the infected streets above?

I found my sister, but that hole inside me still aches; Leo’s smiles don’t warm me anymore; and Castle’s fleeting touches don’t flutter my heart space.
Am I empty even in the safety of this bunker? Or is that these walls seem more like a prison than a sanctuary?
Something is happening at the CDC. And for once, I don’t seek out the secrets. I just hope they don’t find me.
But when Leo goes missing, I can’t hide in the shadows anymore.
