Raised as twin sisters, Ruby and Garnette are separated as children and their lives turn in
opposite directions Taken from her home and brought to live on a wealthy man’s estate, Ruby is sent to the servant’s quarters, yet is educated by governesses. She has no idea why she is there or why she is not allowed to leave.

Ruby and Garnette have one main desire—to find each other again. Their search brings them to their childhood home in Minnesota where they discover that only one of them is the true heiress to a lumber baron’s fortune. But is it Ruby or is it Garnette? In their efforts to unravel this mystery, they face obstacles and opponents who wish to steal the inheritance even if it means getting rid of both girls. Who can they trust?
