In 1813 an English officer is rescued from the cold sea. He has been held as a prisoner of war, but even worse, a slave to anger and bitterness. But God has other plans. Sophia Croft receives a note. Her brother is alive.

Frederick and Anne meet again. Each are altered by what has passed, in more ways than one. From Somerset’s rolling countryside to Bath's crowded concerts, they struggle to navigate these new waters. Amidst others’ expectations and deceptions, Anne and Frederick face one overarching question.
