Just when Bryan is starting to fit into San Diego and gain a sense of purpose with the cocky, swaggering Marines that surround him, they just all disappear. Without so much as a text or call, the bars are empty of jarheads, and Kane, the ringleader, has stopped returning Bryan’s texts. Then, to compound matters, Bryan gets mugged.

But not all is lost. The cop who takes Bryan’s statement is a former Marine, and they hook up. Who needs Kane, when you have Officer Walker, with his bulletproof vest and handcuffs?

At least, so Bryan thinks. Until Kane returns.
