Susan Reed was feature editor of a major magazine in Chicago when the publisher shut down the magazine. With a year's severance she decided instead of seeing another corporate job to become a freelance investigative journalist doing serious pieces along with human interest pieces.Through a series of unexpected twists and turns Susan had ended up in Fox Run, Arkansas as a result of having met and fallen in love with Dan Meyer then the local sheriff but whose family owned a large international software company, FR Software, engaged in cybersecurity. Dan was now Executive VP of the company focusing his law enforcement work on preventing cyber crime while Susan continued her investigations into various issues of local and regional concern. She was now on the trail of a company causing environmental harm to rivers in Arkansas and once more she and Dan would be targets of an ongoing criminal enterprise the scope of which they had no idea would bring them to national attention.
