He followed Alonso below decks, to one of the small, individual cabins on the ship. They were used by the more senior pirates, though Sam didn't really know who had which one, or if some of them shared – he slept in Alonso's cabin, so he knew little of the crew's sleeping situation.

It was small and cramped, but clean, with a narrow bed pushed against one wall. Alonso stepped aside to allow Sam to enter.

“My orders to you today are to please whoever enters this cabin, no matter who or how many there are.” He reached out as Sam passed him, stroking one strong hand down his cheek. “I'll be back later to see how you've done. Don't let me down.” There was an amused tone to his voice, as if he already knew Sam wouldn't.
