The Substitute Wife by Dallas Schulze
When Catherine Lang’s step-sister decided to dump her tall, dark and gorgeous fiancée just weeks before the wedding, she gave Cat the job of delivering the news to him. And when she found out that Luke had to be married before his thirty-sixth birthday, Cat knew immediately that she could be the perfect solution to his problem – he could marry her instead.

Luke needed a wife by his thirty-sixth birthday or he would lose his inheritance but he wasn’t desperate enough to switch fiancées in a matter of hours. He said “No” and then he said “It’s a crazy idea” and “Absolutely not”. He was sure he said all that but, somehow, when Cat left, there was a wedding date on her calendar. Luke could only curse his grandfather’s downright medieval blackmail scheme…and count the seconds till the wedding night.

Despite her youth, Cat knows her own mind and her own heart and she knows she wants Luke. But Luke knows that there’s no ‘forever’ in his future. At the end of a year, their marriage will be over. That’s what they agreed to and he wants to keep it that way. Probably. Almost certainly. And if he sometimes thinks that maybe a year isn’t long enough, that maybe he liked having Cat in his life, that might be the craziest part of this whole crazy arrangement.
