Emily caught her first glance of Captain Jack Turner as she was getting ready for a briefing.
Captain John "Jack" Turner was a seasoned F-35 fighter pilot with striking blue eyes and jet-black hair that hinted at his bold and daring nature. His chiseled features were set in a confident, almost cocky, expression that perfectly encapsulated his devil-may-care attitude. Standing at six feet tall with an athletic build, Jack exuded the physical presence and charisma of a natural leader, making him a respected figure among his peers and subordinates.
Emily was also a fighter pilot in the USAF. She was at a joint exercise at Nellis AFB when she noticed the fellow pilot.
Lieutenant Emily "Blaze" Carter stood out both on the tarmac and in the sky. At 5 feet 7 inches tall, she carried herself with a confidence and poise that commanded respect. Her blonde hair, often pulled back into a no-nonsense bun, contrasted strikingly with her whiskey-colored eyes, which shimmered with a blend of intensity and warmth. Those eyes had seen countless horizons and endless skies. They reflected a determination that was as deep as the amber hue they resembled.
Unaware he was being watched, Jack glanced at his watch, then at the door, wondering when the briefing would start. His conversation with Lieutenant Mark Roberts, a fellow pilot from his squadron, had drifted into the usual pre-flight banter.
"Mark, you ever flown with Davis?" Jack asked, nodding toward Emily, who was now seated near the front.
Mark followed Jack's gaze. "Once, during an exercise last year. She's sharp, man. Really knows her stuff. And she’s not too hard on the eyes, either."
Jack nodded thoughtfully. "You got that right! About the flying, that's what I've heard, too. Should be interesting to see her in action, if you know what I mean."
