Ramos – an ecological engineer – is transferred to the war-torn Rask territory, where Coalition forces recently put down a costly rebellion. There, he's tasked with helping the intimidating locals restore their damaged jungles and farms. To his surprise, he's quickly put in command of a pack of ex-soldiers who are more concerned with jockeying for status than learning to drive a tractor. With a culture that values honor and strength above all else, finding his place in their alien hierarchy might be just as challenging as bringing greenery back to their inhospitable desert home.
