I wanted to live my life on my own terms. True happiness was my end goal. My parents… they were two overbearing people who thought my purpose on this earth was for them to command my every move and live the life they thought was good for me. My dream wasn’t a corner office. My desire was the complete opposite and by any means necessary, I was going to do what I wanted with my life. Even if that meant disappointing my parents, and following my heart into an unlikely love connection when I encountered Chase.

I was the connect. The streets came to me for their needs. And I provided them. When I walked into a room, either two things One, people automatically gave me respect, and two, the others silently prayed on my downfall. Neither one kept my bank account stacked, so I moved through any space as if I owned it, because the chances were, I did. But what I never expected was for a beautiful, smart woman to enter my life, trying to take ownership of my heart. That was never on my list of moves to make when I awoke to start my day. But as the universe would have it, I wouldn’t only remain the connect to the streets, I would be also end up deeply connected to Lauren. Funny thing about the universe, though… it never allows for the best things in life to come easy. So, maneuvering through new territory, I had to determine if the fight for love would be just as gratifying as my fight to maintain control over the streets.
