In book three, we learn more about the mates and their lives. Emery and Xavier, Wilder and Winter, Aurora and Jerome, Edith and Aspen and let's not forget Gwen and Zachary.

As the girls grow into their abilities, they're endlessly tested by enemies of the past. Nick's long-lost uncle shows up to confront his nephew about the death of one of their own. During the confrontation, the pack is warned as Luna and Winter are kidnapped. Unable to control his rage, Wilder destroys Nick's uncle in front of them, proving he's just as deadly as the werewolves. Without his mate, he grows restless and enlists help from Zachary.
Just as Luna and Winter are kidnapped, Edith fights for her life against Ortiz Alessi. While entering the club, Edith finds the day manager has been killed. Ortiz Alessi has brought backup to fulfill the betrothal contract, Liliian De Luca created.
With Aspen racing toward Knoxville to help save Edith, Jerome and Aurora take the lead. Relying on her strength, Jerome begs for Aurora's help in saving Edith. Afraid that her strength alone isn't enough, Aurora has to learn how to merge her wolf with Aspen's. Facing the Alessi pack, Aurora is afraid that she won't be able to handle all two-hundred wolves on her own.

After being heavily drugged with wolfsbane, Winter is determined to find out if werewolves can become immune to wolfsbane. Using wolves they captured; she doses them several times a day with wolfsbane.

Unable to control her bloodlust, Emery is unable to decipher dream from reality. Upon learning she's carrying a hybrid baby, her cravings become impossible to satisfy. When she learns the reason she's carrying a hybrid baby, Emery is willing to become the bait to lure out old enemies of Xaviers.

As the anniversary of her parent's death grows closer, Gwen struggles to understand why her parent's died. Searching for answers, she learns from Zachary that a relative may have killed her parents for their money.
