It’s not long after Elizabeth leaves, however, that Anna starts to find herself drawing the attention of a new visitor to the a man named Jonah Miller. He’s come to be the carpenter’s apprentice, though the carpenter has taken his son to be his apprentice.
Jonah intrigues Anna. He doesn’t speak much about his experience in his home community, but he’s open about what has brought him here. There’s no pressure to marry soon.
She’s more surprised when Jonah asks her to court him after only being in the community for a few days. In all her years, she had never thought that she would intrigue a man that much.
However, when an Englischer comes to the community looking for Jonah, Anna wonders what she’s gotten herself wrapped up in. Will everything work out fine, or will they make constant mistakes?
