On the Corner of Heartache and Hopeful - ALLIE by Lynda Bailey
Allison Gilbert is very good at her job. As a former beat cop, now training to be a police psychologist, protecting and serving is what she’s born to do. When offered the chance to work undercover at local bondage clubs in order to bring down a human trafficking syndicate, she doesn’t hesitate. Too bad she ends up getting kidnapped herself, with amnesia to boot.

Deputy Sheriff Jack Rafferty loves his job. Some might question his move from Chicago back to his hometown of Tatum, Nebraska, but he’s had enough of big city crime. A small, no-stress, rural town is the perfect answer to his burnout. Now he’s content to write speeding tickets and throw local drunks in jail to sleep it off. That is until a mysterious woman shows up just before a monster snowstorm shuts down everything.

Allie and Jack soon discover they have more in common than being in law enforcement and things quickly heat up between them. When Allie remembers the truth of her situation, Jack knows it’s his duty to protect her. Before long that duty becomes both their pleasures, yet they understand this is for short term. Once the bad guys are brought to justice, their lives will – regrettably – go back to normal. Or so they think…
