Ismaela is the Jackal Queen, but only a handful of women respect who and what she is. Born into slavery she and her daughter are the last in the royal line of Jackals and part of a small population of Jackal Shifter women. As he gets closer to finding out where they are being held he finds a girl in the woods; she is tired, hurt, and very scared. Immediately he feels a bond with her, a need to protect her and make her feel safe. Bane was surprised to learn that she is the daughter of the Jackal Queen…what he wasn’t ready for was a mind connection to Ismaela, the girl’s mother, and her announcement that she is his mate. With the first connection of their minds Bane knew he had to do whatever was necessary to free her and her people.
