Playbills and Promises
Samuel DenHartog
Storms tear canvas, a child goes missing, and sabotage turns rehearsal into a race against fear. A temperance crusader rallies a committee, a slick impresario whispers tempting offers, and whispers turn to wagers on whether the show will stand at all. Through it all, Vivienne and Morgan learn the language of partnership, the kind built with lifted beams, shared coffee, and small glances that say more than speeches. The town begins to lean forward, hungry to be surprised, even as trouble circles the footlights.
When ropes are cut and rumors flare, when a make-or-break performance asks the whole community to take a side, what holds and what falls away? Can a stage stitched from planks and hope turn skeptics into allies before the lights go dark? And as danger presses close, will Vivienne and Morgan protect only the show, or dare to risk their guarded hearts as well?
