Shattered Vow
Cassidy Vale
I packed a bag, grabbed what I could and took a bus back to my hometown.
I sat in a hotel lobby, but the front desk told me they didn’t have any rooms left.
That’s when I noticed a little girl walking around with a photo, asking everyone if they knew her.
She stopped in front of me, but when she handed me the picture I nearly dropped it.
It was my high school yearbook photo.
Suddenly, a man in a very expensive suit gently scooped her up and said, “Time to go sweetie, it's getting late.”
But the little girl turned in his arms, pointed at me, and said,
“Wait, Daddy… I found her.”
