Mine to Hide

I have a secret thing with my brother’s best friend.

But last night at his party, I saw some girl walk up and start touching his arm.

So I made sure he could see me across the room, and started talking to the first cute guy I could find.

At first, it was harmless, just a little payback, until the guy leaned in and slid his hand too low down my back.

Before I could even move, I saw him storming across the room, eyes locked, and fists clenched.

Suddenly, he shoved the guy so hard, he fell back into the drink table, and glass shattered everywhere.

The whole party went dead silent, and when he stepped in front of me, his chest was still rising fast as he growled,

“She’s mine.”
