I was only in Bliss Peak to do two things:

1. See about my grandmother.

2. Write

I wasn’t supposed to get to this town and show my ass. Literally.

But I could explain. There was a bat. In my shower. And the threat of rabies was enough to have me sprinting out of my cabin to my only neighbor’s house, with just my towel and suds covering my body.

My neighbor watched me run circles around his house before I could tell him what was wrong.

He was even nice enough to let me wait in his

house with a change of his clothes while he took

care of my bat problem.

Thankfully, it wasn’t even a bat.

But I still had a problem.

I’d come to these woods to write and now I was distracted. Because my neighbor had a roommate, and they invited me to dinner every night. Took care of me when I didn’t know I needed it.

And loved me through my grief.

I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with them. But I was learning that not everything went according to plan
