While working on her thesis, Florentine discovers the tragic story of Fritz Dressel, a former Bavarian state parliamentarian. His biography becomes even more intriguing when his granddaughter leaves the memorial site an entire suitcase full of historical documents, which Florentine gradually works through. To supplement her internship salary, she occasionally takes on guided tours of the historic site. It's there that she meets Liam Wilson, a Canadian business magnate. Their brief but unforgettable encounter seems coincidental, but appearances can be deceiving. Over time, truths come to light in her life that she would have been better off never knowing. When she finally realizes that everything is connected, it's already too late, and she can no longer escape what has been set in motion.
