The Glassmaker of Santa Fe
Samuel DenHartog
Storms roll across the basin, a flash flood tests the furnace, and a polished buyer from back East arrives with promises that ring hollow. Designs go missing over rooftops, a crate vanishes toward the rail spur, and a town of many hands decides how much a window is worth. Through long nights of careful strokes and bright mornings of lifting frames into place, two people find a steadier rhythm in small kindnesses, shy smiles, and the courage to stand without drawing a gun. Color by color, the work begins to hold.
When sabotage threatens the final firing and the deadline looms, craft and community must pull tight or watch the vision crack. Will hand and heart prove stronger than money and menace, and will the chapel light reveal what they truly want from each other? Can a life shaped by fire and patience shine as boldly as the window they raise at dawn?
