Set in the space between The Courtship of Julian St. Albans and its sequel, Apprenticeship, this short story is a gently spooky tale of Alex visiting his old campus for a night lecture, and getting more than he bargained for.

The mystery and spookiness are both very light, and Julian makes a small but important appearance.

Just remember, academics are like the fae: watch what you're agreeing to when you speak with them, or you might find yourself doing a guest lecture on the finer points of magical invention.
