It turns out that reading minotaur romance novels “for research” does not prepare you for meeting a real one.

It definitely doesn’t prepare you for the part where he catches you trying to steal a magical artifact and looks at you like he’s deciding whether to arrest you… or keep you.

I’m a kitchen witch with a caffeine dependency and a magic problem that’s getting worse by the day. He’s a glamoured minotaur pretending to be a museum security guard, which is a job title that should not come with horns, a tail, and that much quiet menace.

He calls me little witch. I flirt back just to watch him struggle with it.

But when something starts hunting my magic, the grumpy minotaur who insists he doesn’t care suddenly won’t let me out of his sight.

One portal crossing later, I’m in a world full of monsters, my crow familiar can finally talk and absolutely will not shut up, and the tension between me and my “protector” is turning downright dangerous.

Because my magic isn’t broken.

It’s powerful enough to save what he lost… or destroy everything he’s still trying to protect.
