It’s been five years since the flare hit. Now, in ruins, the world has become a place governed by chaos. Many people prepared for it, but not in the right way. They built walls and stored food, water, medicine, and guns. Yet, none of that did them any good when the plague slipped through the cracks of their sealed doors.

Folks think we’re crazy for traveling east in such large numbers. The Ancient of Days showed us the folly of trusting in man-made walls during the time of His wrath. For there is no wall like Him.

And it wasn’t until my daughter and I were kidnapped while bathing in a river that I realized how much of a bubble of protection He’d created around us. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I knew things were bad. We had to constantly fight off blood fiends and human flesh eaters…

But I had no idea there were dinosaurs scavenging the land out west, or that there were smart cities selling human arms and legs on the streets alongside rat burgers. Due to the tainted water, most women had become infertile, and those who weren’t were worth more than their weight in gold and had become highly sought after.

Which is how Niyah and I ended up in the hands of a bearlike man known as the Prodigal Son in a place called New Rome. But even though we were separated from our group, the Ancient of Days, in His infinite mercy, did not remove that dome of protection from around us.

It came in the form of a beautiful young lady named Tullula. She was able to do what no one else could…tame the bear. And would end up being Niyah’s and my tour guide, on the strangest and scariest ride of our lives.
