Catfished
Kylie Gable
Geoff thought catfishing women online was harmless fun.
Laura and Cara have a different idea.
Now Geoff is the one in the wig, the heels, and the dress, forced to become Cassandra, the fake girl he created. What starts as punishment quickly turns into something much worse when Cassandra catches the eye of Kyle, Geoff’s best friend.
And Laura and Cara are only getting started.

By that point the routine had become familiar. Geoff sat with the phone in his hands while the two women watched the screen over his shoulders like editors reviewing a draft. When his responses sounded too blunt, Laura would tell him to soften the wording. If he tried to end the conversation too quickly, Cara insisted he add something flirtatious or personal. Between them they guided every message before it was sent, and eventually Geoff stopped arguing. He typed what they told him to type and waited for Kyle’s replies.
One night, after a longer conversation than usual, a new message appeared on the screen. Geoff read it once and felt his chest tighten.
Kyle:
I feel like I know you better than anyone, Cassandra. I really want to meet you in person. Let me take you to dinner Friday.
Geoff stared at the message for several seconds before speaking.
“No,” he said quietly.
Cara leaned closer so she could read the screen again, and Laura was already reaching toward the phone.
“No,” Geoff repeated, this time more sharply. “Absolutely not. We are not doing that.”
Before he could type a response, Laura took the phone from his hands. She read Kyle’s message once more, then began typing with calm, deliberate movements.
Geoff leaned forward in alarm. “Laura, don’t.”
She finished the reply without answering him and handed the phone back. Geoff looked down at the screen and felt his stomach drop when he saw what she had sent.
I’d love that. I know just the dress.
For a moment the room was quiet as Geoff continued staring at the message. Cara was the first one to react. She leaned back against the couch cushions with a slow, satisfied smile.
“Well,” she said, “looks like you’ve got a date.”
