Prince Saerus has been in love since he was ten years old—which would be cute if it wasn’t so demoralizing. He’s set to become king in less than a week, and no matter how hard he tries to be excited, he just can’t manage it. How could he? The distance between himself and Aimeric, the court’s most popular Troubadour, is already wide enough as it is. It doesn’t help that Aimeric travels around, seeing the world, only coming back to winter at the court before setting out again. Ten years of periodic, poetic flirtations and lingering looks can only say so much, and in the game of courtly love, Saerus can only hope for a speck of sincere reciprocation, and the time to find it is steadily running out.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Saerus is going to have to knuckle down and make the first move if he hopes to get anywhere with the handsome artist, and he’s determined to do just that—even if it does mean learning the art of seduction on the fly.
