She took language seriously and wanted all conversations to be as moving as John 1:1. In the beginning was the word. Eloquência didn’t write or speak words willy nilly. She deliberated over her words, whether written or spoken, choosing how to use them: as balms or weapons. She thought she’d used all of her best words on her son, Treasure, to show him that, despite the world seeing him as a problem, she saw him as an individual to be loved, revered, and cherished. She used her words as well as her actions to prove each day that she loved him and would fight for him. Long haul trucker and diesel mechanic Continent Mann was known as the studious Mann and he’d beat anyone’s ass who said otherwise. He had the privilege of having a job he liked and a say to how things got done. By whatever means necessary. A mountain of a man, even for a wolf shifter, he had no problem regulating sh*t when the situation warranted blood, gore, and whatnot. But underneath his intimidating size and visage, was a man who was a deep thinker. Founder of a book club, Continent revered the written word and had read many of the classics in their original language, be it Latin, Greek, or Arabic. There was nothing he admired more than moving prose. And then he was made aware of Eloquência Matira who wielded words with the precision of a samurai. She knew how to use words, and take advantage of pauses, and how to fill out a pair of leggings. Her words dripped passion about mundane things, but then he got the pleasure of hearing her words in defense of her son and knew two things: he wanted to claim Eloquência Matira and her son for himself and he wanted that woman to direct that passion at him. less
