Quinn leaned against the rail of the cruiser, her body taut, arms gripping the wood grain, afraid she might slip.

The man in front of her had just proposed, and dared her to take their relationship to the next step, and beyond.

Chance approached, his eyes dancing, his gaze mischievous, and wild.

“Did you think you could run from me, and I wouldn’t find you?”

Quinn thought about telling him what he could do with his sexy grin, rakish stare, and his body that was built for sin.

“First you accuse me of scheming for your money. Then you tell me, you want me, after I tell you I’m going to be the mother of your children. I don’t want any man who asserts I am a? What did you say? ‘A scheming, prevaricating, gold digger’.”

Quinn leant farther over the railing, spotting where she might be able to duck from Chance. Thinking there must be someplace where she might escape.

“I’ll make this easy for you.” Chance wrapped his beefy arms around Quinn. “You agree not to struggle. I’ll agree to apologize for thinking you wanted any other man but me. On one condition.”

Quinn glanced at the big brute and stared, warily. “What?” Chance growled low, as she felt him fold against her, sporting a wicked grin.

“Do it.”

“Do what?”

“I dare you.”

“I will not”! Quinn squirmed, but Chance had the grip of a cobra. And she wasn’t sure he wouldn’t bite her if she tried to scream.

Chance grinned, his eyes wild. “You will. Or there’s always option two.”

“And what is that?” Quinn challenged.

“Marry me. Who’s afraid, now?”
