The Laird's Daughter: A Scottish Regency Romance by Fiona Millsan
Scotland 1809.

Christina Irvine knew what was important in life: her family, their land, and the people who lived and worked on that land. Not that her privileged existence made her obdurate, or impulsive, or entitled. Not in any way. Just very sure of what truly matters.

So Graham Meikle’s first fault is his different outlook. Focused on commerce rather than any empty aspiration to join the Regency ton, he keeps his own council every bit as tightly as he holds his secrets. Unfortunately tall dark and mysterious is guaranteed to infuriate Christina as much as it intrigues her.

As the tentacles of war reach into the land she loves and the vulnerabilities of her family are exploited by their enemies the assurance of Christina’s life crumbles. Enmeshed in conspiracy she can’t begin to understand she faces the ruin of her family, her home and her hopes. Christina needs every ally she can find to face the danger and the threat to her honour.

Yet you need to be able to trust allies and Christina doesn’t know whether or not she can rely on Graham. The man is secretive and clandestine, with a question mark over past complicity with her enemies. Her instinct is to recoil from the attraction she feels for him. She can’t commit her heart until she understands both him and his actions. The trouble is that, rather inconveniently, she forgot to explain that to her heart.
