Khloe Winston is at the point in her life where she has finally been able to put her troubled past behind her. The suffering she endured while being held captive during her years in the missions field speaks to the deep pain and brokenness she carries inside. She is already in her mid-forties and not yet married, another reason for her interest in going back home. It’s been years since she’s been home. She wants to spend time with her parents, visit her childhood friends still living in the area and hopefully run into Paul Whittington, her high school sweetie and backyard neighbor. Paul had returned home after serving in the Navy and never left again. He built a solid career and life back home. He also never got around to finding a wife.
Passion is quickly re-ignited between Khloe and Paul as they become reacquainted after all those long years away from each other. Khloe’s week at “home” is quickly coming to an end and she wonders if they will be successful in managing a long distance relationship with her living in Florida and Paul tied to small-town Americana? Since they are both in their forties and not getting any younger. she decides to move back home so their relationship can move to the next level. There is only one problem, she doesn’t know how Paul’s high profile job will accept their biracial relationship, especially in the small, off-the-beaten-path, community.
