The Filigree Heart by Cheryl Lynn Neumann
Francie Quinn is a woman of many talents, she is an artist, an expert antique appraiser and an entrepreneur. She also has one secret gift that enables her to be successful at all the rest. That gift is the one that forced her to leave her home, family and career in Chicago to seek a fresh start in the eclectic, little town of Prairie Grove.
Everything about the town is right for Francie: her new house, her new business, and a handsome farmer named Sam Garrett. Just when life is near perfect when a nemesis from her former life wanders into Francie's antique shop. Within minutes her secret is revealed and rumors are swirling. Now, Francie is forced to defend her unusual ability and her reputation.
To save her fledgling business and fight for the man she loves Francie must push her abilities to levels she never thought possible. The wild rumors about her aren't the only things threatening her relationship with Sam. So are scars from his past. Francie must try to find his estranged mother and heal his old wounds in order to save their romance.
Other than her old friend from Chicago Francie only has one other nemesis - the kitchen. She can't cook to save her soul. As the annual Prairie Grove Valentine's Day Ball approaches, Francie learns she is expected to take part in the old tradition of bringing a homemade dessert to the black-tie affair. To add to the pressure, Francie is determined to find Sam's grandmother's beloved, long-lost chocolate truffle cake recipe.
If Francie can unlock the full potential of her gifts she will be able to find Sam's mother and the recipe by following clues only she can see. But, unlocking her potential puts her at risk of physical pain, ire from Prairie Grove's residents, and loosing her business. For Francie finding truth and love wins out over the risks.
