Alec by Stan I.S. Law
This is the first part of a Trilogy in which three generations of Alexander Baldwin's family reach out, each to their ultimate potential. In part one, Alec meets his own self among the stars; father, Alec Sr., challenges the elements in the open seas; Alec's mother, Alice, attempts to follow the great masters and leave at least one immortal work of art behind her. All three meet their wildest dreams, often in most unexpected ways.

Originally, part of this novel was published under the title of The Princess, which is still available in its original form, suitable principally for young adults. After many requests from readers demanding to know what happened to Alec's parents, the author expanded the novel to meet the expectations of his followers.
