Golden Dream by Donna Marie Rogers
A prideful single mother must rely on the town's richest bad boy to keep a roof over her head.

Penniless single mother Summer Hanson finally lands an interview at a prestigious law firm, only to have her dreams doused thanks to a careless jerk in a pickup truck. When fate brings them back together, the wealthy rancher persuades her into accepting a job in his family's home. Out of options, she accepts the sexy cowboy’s offer, but worries about the price of his “charity.”

Reese McMillan has spent the last five years shedding his bad boy image, and earning back his brother’s trust. Captivated by his beautiful new employee and her adorable daughter, he sets out to win them both over, but worries their budding relationship will die a quick death once she discovers he's the reason her ex is behind bars. When the guy makes early parole, the truth comes out in the worst way possible, and Reese finds himself in the fight of his life to hold on to the only woman he’s ever loved.

Excerpt:

A lesson in history…

“Millie and Mitchell…so that’s what the Double M stands for.”

He gave an affirmative nod. “I’ll have to show you a photo of them sometime. They were a pretty striking couple.”

“I’d love to see it. I thought the name of your ranch had to do with your last name having two Ms.”

“Nope. My great-grandparents’ last name was Stanford. They had Gran, who married Daniel Alger, and they had my mother. Dad is the McMillan.”

“Got it.” Summer picked a stem of red clover and twirled it beneath her nose, a little in awe—and a little envious. “You’re a fascinating guy, Reese McMillan. Wish my life had been half as interesting.”

“You say ‘had’ as if it’s over. You’re barely in your twenties, woman. You have a lot more living to do.”

She peeked at him through her lashes. “It’s certainly gotten more exciting since I met you. Though, I’m still not sure if that’s good or bad.”

He leaned in toward her and caressed a slow path from her knee, up her thigh, and back again. “Maybe it’s a little bit of both.”
