Chasing Tail by Roxanne St. Claire
Firefighter Connor Mahoney has a well-deserved reputation as a flirtatious charmer, but underneath his playful exterior is a man who hates to lose. When he decides to run for mayor, he's confident of victory because of his brilliant idea to put Frank, a local canine hero who saved a drowning child, as the name on the ticket. What could be better for dog-friendly Bitter Bark than a ceremonial "dog" mayor with Connor calling the shots behind the scenes? Then Connor gets some unwanted help from the Dogmothers, who think a pretty new arrival from Washington DC would make the perfect campaign manager for their highly eligible bachelor grandson. But no matter how much Connor likes the idea of working with the gorgeous Sadie Hartman, she's doing her best to keep him at arm's length.

Sadie wants no part of helping Connor achieve yet another victory, no matter how smoking hot he is or electrifying their first encounter was. Not only did he steal an election from her in high school, now he's making a mockery of the the position by putting a dog on the ballot. No way she'll help him win. In fact, Sadie is sure that being a small town mayor is exactly what she needs to rekindle her idealism after DC left her disillusioned and disappointed, so she runs against him.

But the opponents are both in for a big surprise when a two-hundred year old law is unearthed to upend the entire election. Then, the only way for Sadie or Connor to beat a third candidate is to join forces in a way no one is expecting. It's crazy, it's sexy, and it will either work or blow up in their faces. As Sadie and Connor discover that the best part of running against each other is literally being against each other, it doesn't take long to figure out that sometimes winning the race means losing your heart.
