The Heir to Nothing is the third in the ‘Brighton Heirs’ series of Regency novels by Cecilia Peartree. It tells the story of Anthony Devereaux, cast out by his father and recruited as a ferryman to take government agents across to France and back during the Napoleonic Wars, and of Lady Matilda (Tilly) Marshall, daughter of the Earl of Redmarsh, who befriends Devereaux when he is in trouble and becomes closer to him over the years. When Dev decides it is time to seek a reconciliation with his family, he finds a dangerous cousin standing in his way, and it is only with help from powerful allies and friends that he has any chance of success.
