Penny Templeton has just buried her crazy mother when a drunk in a dump truck crashes into her car, nearly killing her. Booker, assistant chief of police, is in the car behind her and calls for help. Booker, a divorced father, is attracted to Penny’s determination to help kids who are bounced between crazy or abusive parents and foster homes, like she had been. In spite of being uncomfortable with her psychic visions, he falls deeply in love. She loves him too, but he wants more children, and she’s afraid to have a baby who could inherit her mother’s mental illness. An attorney notifies Penny that her father died and left her his estate. What father? Where was he when she was growing up, when she needed him? She meets her grandmother’s ghost, who tells Penny that the attorney has been stealing from her father’s estate. Penny has another concern. Would the ghost and her inheritance change her relationship with Booker?
