Light in the Shadows by C.R. Riley
Amy and Joseph Lands are now married and starting their lives together. After the tragedy they faced only months ago, when Amy’s ex kidnapped her and nearly killed her, they have moved forward as planned. It isn’t going to be easy for them; they are basically having to start all over again. Love is the glue holding them together. It will be the love they hold for each other, that will also help heal all the pain Amy faces emotionally. Joseph is determined to be a husband his wife can trust. When he notices a fraction of her pervious attraction to him has returned, he decides it might be time to play a little game, one that will help them move forward and give them both what they both desires. A new problem lands on their doorstep while they are working through all of this. Will it slow them down? Or will it bring them even closer together? Hank Piper has never really gotten over his broken heart, when his ex-girlfriend left him for another man. Since that day he vowed to never let another woman in his life, to only use them for one thing and one thing only. Keep his heart completely out of it so he never had to go through that kind of hurt again. It worked too, until he meets Marisa. No matter how hard he tries to fight against the pull, there is just something about her that draws him directly towards her. Marisa Barns thought she’d found the love of her life once, but it turned out he was only using her. She moved forward the best she could, after the situation he left her in. Picked up all the pieces of her broken heart and did her best to not ever let anyone destroy her again like he had done. Her life was focused on her career and her father, a man just wasn’t on her long-term plan. Living the single life was suiting her fine. Not even the notorious Henry Piper was going to steer her off course and disrupt the life or wall she had constructed around it to keep her safe. However, the universe has other ideas for them. No matter how hard either of them tries to stay away they always end up being pushed towards the other. Sometimes what we need most is the one thing we fight the hardest against. There are also a few other new characters who you will get to know and hear about. A mini love story between one of them, a person who has ties to Hank. As well as getting the chance to hear more about a few others you’ve already fallen in love with. Some of these earlier characters stories will take longer to develop in future books, giving you something to hopefully look forward too.
