Keeping her job a secret from Joel’s ex-partner wasn’t easy, but she was sure that Melody had no clue as to who she was. Working for the CIA was something that she loved but lying for a living wasn’t something that she enjoyed doing. She looked at it as part of the job—lying to her friends and family had become a part of her life, even if it meant losing people that she loved and cared about. It was her job, and she was good at it.
