Something is going on from Central to South Florida and it’s a beautiful thing to see. Several non viable farms and ranches are now owned by Blackmon Ranch and it isn’t your usual land grab. The land is being cultivated as we speak to grow vegetables and fruit in addition to small livestock such as chickens. This bounty will feed the community and schools. Much of the land laid dormant as heir property. Blackmon paid the heirs what the land was worth rather than simply paying the taxes and scooping it up. I hear ‘What a Man” by EnVogue playing in my heart. What Men actually, because Blackmon is the main player in a conglomerate of men which includes Malcolm Black, Mayor Jeremy Felipe, Blade Black Blackmon and Blackmon Ranch’s General Manager, Nathaniel Leon. Big things are popping…



There were other farms purchased in foreclosure much like the now very successful Renal Ranch…and sold back to the original owners in exchange for a promise to work the land while making affordable payments. The caveat being they cannot sell the land or default on payments. The aforementioned and latter farms and ranches are all minority owned. I don’t know about you but I am one proud Black Woman.
