Heart of the Matter (Lancaster #2)
Marcella DiPaolo
Cleo was marrying Sully Coogan, the livery owner. He was bald, short, and heavily muscled from all the work he had done with lifting straw and grass to feed all his animals over the years. He had also been lonely. He hoped getting married would solve that.
Clemintine was marrying George Roberts; he owned a sheep farm outside of town. George was of medium height and had brown hair and a brown beard. Clemintine thought him handsome the first time she was introduced to him. He thought she was pretty. But both were extremely shy with each other. Clemintine had only worked in the kitchen at home and had never helped her father with the animals, so she had no idea of how to help George in the barn or with his sheep.
George lived next door to a cattle baron who didn’t want anyone raising sheep in Montana. He was doing everything in his power to get rid of his neighbor and his sheep. He wasn’t above sending his men to killing George or his sheep, or his new wife, if it resulted in getting rid of him as his neighbor. One way or the other, he would be rid of those sheep, and he would buy the land and put cattle on it. But Butler wasn’t just causing trouble with George, his men cause trouble in town, too. The law were constantly after his men for one offense or another. Butler wasn’t happy and when Butler wasn’t happy, he sent his men to causing more trouble. Would Cleo and Clemintine be able to find happiness with all the trouble going on around them? Would they be able to get to the heart of the matter and find love?
