Myra survived the end of the world by being too nice to die. She shares everything with everyone and trusts other survivors way more than she should. When her safe haven begins to fall apart, the people she’s helped repay her kindness by taking advantage of her. She still smiles through it, kind of, until Cade shows up. Covered in black goo, running for his life, he collides with her quiet, crumbling existence.
Cade doesn’t want to be anyone’s problem. He’s just trying to get back to his brother. He didn’t mean to stumble into a half-starved commune full of suspicious survivors, and they aren’t about to let another one into their midst. When Myra sneaks him in, it’s not the worst decision she’s ever made, but it’s close.
Now the two of them are on the run, dodging bloats (the disgusting, goo-filled, ex-human variety of zombie), sketchy survivors, and their emotional baggage.
She’s never had a home. He just wants his back. Falling for each other wasn’t the plan, but neither was the apocalypse.
Disgusting zombies, ill-timed romance, and a hilarious and happy ever after.
