I did it. I made the jump from childhood star to adult romcom darling. I smiled for the cameras and played by the rules—until I didn’t.
Now I’m paying for it. My comeback requires me to co-star with a former British boybander who’s as manufactured as processed cheese. The studio wants chemistry. The internet wants drama. They call this optics. I call it exhausting.

I was hyped to star opposite the brilliant Kayla Prescott...and then I met her. She’s got a chip on her shoulder the size of Big Ben. Fair enough. Hollywood chewed her up, spit her out, and called her a diva for good measure.
She suspects my attraction to her is courtesy of the PR machine. But maybe I have something to prove to myself, even if it makes things messy for both of us.
And if it follows a romcom script…it absolutely will.
