"It will be my pleasure, milady," said the marquess, who already suspected Darline's intentions.
Once on the balcony, Darline couldn't bear it any longer.
"Your Lordship, with all due respect… what do you think you're doing? You're scaring away my suitors, you're worse than my brothers, and I thought they would embarrass me, but I was wrong… It's you! You're killing me with this, I couldn't spend time with the others because you've monopolized me," she reproached him angrily, almost shouting.
"You look beautiful when you're angry, Darline, I won't let any of them near you, especially not St. Albans, he's a scoundrel."
"Just like you, what are you after? You won't seduce me, I have feelings for you, but I'm not a fool."
"Milady, nothing could be further from the truth, I don't want to seduce you, I only want to protect you."
