For several months Sundown considered himself Asha’s friend. He respected she was about her business, she had also ended a relationship and welcomed a new baby brother who at six months was young enough to be her child. She said she was tri-parenting with her mom, EV and stepfather Dent. Both of whom were people he had grown to know and love. Dent had been his professor years earlier and one dark night in a park when he was at his rope’s end, EV intervened in his life and it had been uphill from there.

He also committed to working on his mental health and getting his life on track. He had a great career as a pro-basketball player but retired to take care of his mom, who died before she was fifty and he entered a downward spiral but that was behind him and he was ready to admit, he wanted Asha as more than his friend, confidante and meals date, especially after he heard her say, It might be time to get back out there…if by get back out there she meant dating men other than him, it was time for a conversation.
